THINGS TO KEEP IN MIND

When visiting the farm...

CLOTHING

Open-toe shoes and your best shoes are not recommended for your farm visit. Keep in mind that you need comfortable shoes that you don’t mind getting a bit dirty. During winter months remember to dress in layers. The open nature of our farm landscape can make it colder.

RAIN

While we wish we could, we can’t control the weather. We remain open during inclement weather, but make sure you have a good pair of muck/mud boots if you do decide to come for a visit.

WIND

There are some mighty winds and they don’t have an off switch. We are in the country so the only wind breaks are the buildings and they can sometimes create a tunnel effect. People with longer hair may want to bring a hair tie, bandanna or headband to keep hair out of your face. Wearing a winter hat helps in cold weather, too.

SUN

While the wind makes the heat tolerable, it can also fool you as to how much sun exposure you can get. We suggest a good sunblock be used at all times on all exposed skin including face, ears and arms, especially in the summer months when sunshine burns hot and long.

BUGS

Natural insect spray and/or natural tick repellent is helpful to have on hand in case it is needed in warmer months. Be sure to check everyone for ticks as well.

FINGERNAILS

For the animals’ safety, if you are going to be doing anything more than petting them, please consider trimming your nails short. Trust us when we say that not all dirt here on the farm is something you want under your beautiful nails.
