GARDEN SCIENCE FIELD CAMP - Day 2

  • Cold Spring Farm 46 Town Road Colchester, CT, 06415 United States (map)

Garden Science Field Camp
July 16-20

These week-long day camps are a great way to have summer fun while learning about the fascinating world of the garden and farm. Spend five days developing practical garden skills, exploring plants and discovering animals that live at Cold Spring Farm. Learn about insects, vegetables, soil and worms while playing games, making art, reading stories, singing songs and running through the sprinklers. Camp is 9am-3pm each day, and campers bring their own snack and lunch.

Campers will be 6-10 years old, entering grades 1–5 in fall 2018 or equivalent.

The garden is full of mysteries. How do plants grow? What are those busy pollinators up to? What is going on inside that worm bin? If you’d like to find answers to the garden’s biggest questions, this camp is for you! We’ll become scientists and learn all about the complex and beautiful plants and animals that call the garden home. Using real scientific techniques from field biologists, we will design and carry out experiments like creating insect pit fall traps, discovering seed adaptation and tracking what kinds of animals live in the garden. Scientists like to have lots of fun too, so we’ll sing, play fun games, make cool art to relax the mind, and eat some delicious food right out of the garden. No special science experience required!
